Steve,

The simplicity of your comments make it simple to understand. Growth is always located on the "X" side of the equation. Keep "Y" under control and push "X" and your business will have the opportunities to succeed.

You've always had great pearls of wisdom from your time spent with this successful business man. As you said above, common sense isn't always common practice. You have to step back and take a look at the big picture in order to see the obvious. This post gives that big picture view! Great job.

Steve,

I had a teacher in college that told us the greatest business secret in the universe. He built it up until we couldn't stand waiting to hear this wisdom. The wisdom was "always make more than you spend." Simple, direct and I have never forgotten the message. Very similar to the X & Y. Thanks again for another great blog.
