I read an article a few weeks back that mentioned "no one logs onto Facebook with their credit card in hand." The majority of us use Facebook socially, to connect with friends and organizations. Instead of treating Facebook like a business platform, companies need to look at their Facebook pages as a way to engage with customers, and gain insight from customer interactions and feedback.


I agree, Steve. I'm one of the few 40-something's whose been engaged in the internet since the mid-1990's and look to the horizon for trends. I use Facebook for what it is (a way to engage or inform our fans of happenings at our company), and don't try to make it something it isn't (a direct marketing tool). You can use a flat screwdriver for a scraper in a pinch, but you can't scrape the paint off your house with it. Use the right tool for the right job and the job gets done more efficiently.
